Doral, Fla. — The alumni association of Millennia Atlantic University heads into 2022 with new members of the board of directors and new plans for funding scholarships for university alumni who attend institutions offering Ph.D. and Doctorate of Business Administration programs.

The current slate of the MAU Alumni Association Board of Directors is presided over by Gustavo Garragory, who graduated from MAU in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and completed the MBA program in 2021. Natalie Cruz, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from MAU in 2021 is the alumni board’s vice-president. Maria Cruz earned her MBA with an accounting concentration in 2015 from MAU and is serving as the association’s treasurer. Luis David Ramirez, Dr. Gary Markowitz, and MAU president Dr. Aristides Maza Duerto round out the list of board members.

The board has authorized the creation of a dedicated MAUAA website, which has recently been launched. A fundraising gala benefiting the alumni scholarship fund is scheduled for March 12, 2022 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Doral.

“Our alumni are part of the Millennia Atlantic University community even after they graduate,” noted Maza Duerto. “Strengthening our alumni association and building on what we offer our graduates illustrates our commitment to create an environment that fosters our students’ success, wherever they are in their journey.”

It can take three to five years to get a doctorate, and according to the National Center for Education Statistics, the average cost of annual graduate tuition ranges between $19,000 and $44,000.

“Growing our scholarship fund will provide MAU alumni with an additional resource to support their academic pursuits,” explained Maza Duerto. “I know the alumni association board of directors is looking forward to making a significant impact in the lives of MAU graduates through our scholarship program.”
